  • Interim Receipt has been discontinued since 30 June 2024.
  • An official receipt will be issued to the policy owner upon receipt of the premium (except autopay payment).

  • To protect your interests, please pay the premium directly to “SUN LIFE HONG KONG LIMITED”. DO NOT pass cash or transfer funds to any third parties (including licensed insurance intermediary).

Visa / Mastercard / UnionPay cards

You can settle your premium and levy payment (if applicable) online for new applications and renewal premium anytime, anywhere in Hong Kong dollars (HKD).

You can use any Visa/Mastercard credit cards or UnionPay cards to pay premiums for new applications.

 

Renewal premium


You can proceed to the payment page in My Sun Life HK by clicking "Proceed to ePayment" under the "Billing" section of "Policy Details".

Visa/Mastercard credit cards and UnionPay cards will be accepted for renewal premium settlement.

 

Important notes

Payment will be processed by Visa/Mastercard/UnionPay Payment Gateway Services. No credit card details will be stored in Sun Life's system.

 

*For UnionPay cards

UnionPay is only applicable for making payments of Medical and Personal Accident Plans.
The daily transaction limit of UnionPay for each Policy Owner is HKD37,000. This amount or the limit on the number of transactions may vary depending on the card issuer. If the transaction is not accepted, you should refer to your card issuer.

Faster Payment System (FPS)

Only HKD is accepted. The maximum amount of each transaction may vary between banks and individual account settings.

You can settle policy payments with FPS via the following ways:

  • Log in to My Sun Life HK . Go to "My Policies" page and choose the policy you want to settle premium for. Click "Proceed to ePayment" under the "Billing" section. Screenshot the FPS payment QR code and settle premium via the app of your FPS service provider.

  • Scan the FPS QR code on the Premium Notice with your mobile phone.

Only HKD is accepted. The maximum amount of each transaction may vary between banks and individual account settings. You may contact your FPS provider for more details.

PPS

You can settle your premium payment anytime, anywhere, through the use of a touch-tone telephone or via the Internet, from your pre-registered bank accounts.

Telegraphic transfer / Local bank transfer

You can settle the policy payment by Telegraphic Transfer/Local Bank Transfer. Applicable to payments for premium and / or levy.

Important notes

  • We accept payment from the policy owner or eligible third-party. Eligible third-party includes insured, policy owner's spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, grandchild.
 For third-party payments, Third Party Payment Declaration Form and a copy of the payer's ID card are required for record purposes.
  • The service charge of Telegraphic Transfer is borne by the payer. Please contact the relevant bank for details.
  • Policy number, Policy owner's name and payment purpose (e.g. Premium/ Levy) must be filled in at the "Message to Payee"/ "Message to Beneficiary" section. Payment will be applied to policy premium, unless other payment purposes are specified in the remittance advice. Payment allocation must be provided if the payment is paid for more than one policy, e.g. E12345678 HKD3000, E23456789 HKD5000.
  • Payment record must be provided after completing the Telegraphic Transfer / Local
 Bank Transfer. Please notify your Advisor or contact us to follow up on the payment by providing the payment records.
  • For HKD policies, only payments in HKD will be accepted. For USD/RMB/AUD/CAD/GBP policies, only payments in HKD or in policy currency will be accepted.
 You should ensure your premium payments are sent to the correct bank account above in the respective currency acceptable to the policy. If the TT remittance is not in the correct currency, the bank may still accept your TT remittance and perform foreign exchange translation automatically according to the prevailing exchange rates as determined by the bank. SLHK will not bear these exchange rate risks and the bank charges involved.
  • We will send an official receipt to the policy owner when we receive the remittance.

Autopay

You can settle your premium payment either via direct debit from your HK dollar bank account or Sun Life Financial credit card.

  • Under normal circumstances, the bank autopay application takes around 4-6 weeks to set up.
  • Only HK currency account is acceptable.

 

Sun Life Financial credit card autopay

  • If you are the Sun Life Financial credit card holder, you may settle your premium by using the Sun Life Financial credit card autopay service. For autopay application, it will take 7 days to setup.
  • The transaction currency is in HK dollar.

Billing schedule

To help you stay on track, we will send reminders around the Premium Due Date. Below timeline applies to non‑monthly premium payments.

25 days before premium due

You will receive premium notice letter.

Premium Due Date

15 days and 30 days after premium due

You will receive reminder and overdue / reinstatement offer notice by letter if unpaid.

60 days if still unpaid

If payment is not received, your policy may be converted under a non‑forfeiture option (e.g. Automatic Premium Loan) or lapsed, depending on policy terms.

  1. The SMS will be sent as a premium reminder separately.
  2. The above schedule may vary subject to the policy status and/or product feature.

25 days before premium due

You will receive premium notice letter.

45 days if still unpaid
