The eMPF Platform is built and operated by the eMPF Platform Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA). It centralizes and digitalizes all MPF schemes’ administrative processes, allowing you to manage your MPF online at ease.

eMPF functions

As an employee or a self-employed person, you have access to below functions on eMPF, including:

  • Manage multiple MPF accounts
  • Make MPF contributions online
  • Fund switching
  • Transfer or withdraw MPF benefits
  • Consolidate personal accounts
  • Update personal information

As an employer, you have access to below functions on eMPF, including:

  • Open new accounts or enroll employees in MPF schemes
  • Auto-calculate MPF contributions

Sun Life MPF scheme onboarding schedule

eMPF will officially commence operations on 26 June 2024.  All existing MPF schemes will be gradually onboarded to eMPF from June 2024 to the end of 2025. According to the current timeline, the onboarding date of Sun Life Rainbow MPF Scheme will tentatively be in Q2/Q3 2025.

Frequently asked questions

For Employers

You should start managing your MPF account through the eMPF platform from the date on which the MPF scheme that you are participating in onboards to the eMPF platform.  You may find the onboarding schedule of the schemes on the eMPF website.

Employer can enrol new employees through the eMPF employer portal. eMPF will notify the employees to complete their enrolment through member portal. If an employee is not willing to register with eMPF, the employer can submit the employee’s enrolment via paper form, the form should be completed by both the employer and the employee, to the eMPF Platform.

General points to note: 

  1.  A communication pack with a “Notice to participating Employers and Scheme Members of the Scheme” will be sent by the MPF providers to the scheme participating employers and members before the onboarding of the MPF scheme. The onboarding date of the MPF scheme and important  information about onboarding, such as the cut-off date for MPF providers to receive MPF administration instructions, will be provided in the notice.
  2. They should register when the first MPF provider onboard to the eMPF platform and no need to register again when the second MPF provider onboard.
  3. Employers should check the onboarding date of each the MPF provider; the notice issued by the MPF provider (includes cut-off dates for different MPF  instructions); and the payroll groups and payment methods under each MPF provider.

If the HR outsourcers/payroll vendors/employers would like to obtain payroll integration technical specifications for HR system and payroll software solution to integrate with the eMPF Platform for employee enrolment and contributions, they should sign up at https://www.mpfa.org.hk/en/empf/signuphrintegration

Your payroll vendor can also apply "Signup for Sandbox Access to Perform API Integration Testing and/or Standardized Data File Testing with the eMPF Platform" from the MPFA website. The sandbox testing will be provided, allowing vendor to test and assess the file. 

For Members

A communication pack with a “Notice to participating Scheme Members of the Scheme” will be sent by the trustee to the scheme participating members before the onboarding of the MPF scheme. The onboarding date of the MPF scheme and important information about onboarding will be provided in the notice.

The communication pack, in hard copy format, will be sent out to the members in two to three months before the scheme onboarding date.

After an employee registers their eMPF account, they can use a single login to check all of their MPF accounts (including contribution account, PA account, TVC accounts etc.) through eMPF member portal. Once their MPF schemes onboarded to the eMPF system, employee can view and manage their MPF accounts in eMPF member portal. 

For MPF Intermediaries

You can assist the employer or scheme member to fill in and submit the e-form or upload documents to the eMPF Platform via the eMPF Assistant Portal.  The employer or scheme member will then be able to review, verify and submit the e-form/documents on the eMPF Platform.
