Family Care Benefit¹

We are always here on your road to recovery, on top of the medical assistance provided to you, we are also here to offer you more assistance to assist you getting back to normal life. You can arrange the following services2 from HMG, HMG will provide at least two shortlisted service providers for the insured to select from. Please note that we cover only the administrative support of the above service, all the actual costs of the services referred or arranged shall be borne by you.

1. Spouse Care

  • Within 2 business days upon receiving all the necessary proof or documents, we will arrange a registered psychologist to provide psychological counselling for the insured’s spouse.

2. Parental Care

  • Within 24 hours upon receiving all the necessary proof or documents, we will secure a place in a licensed elderly home in Hong Kong for insured’s parent(s) who are age 65 or above.
  • Arrange the transportation of the parent(s) together with you or your designated representative to the elderly home

3. Child Care

  • Within 24 hours upon receiving all the necessary proof or documents, we will arrange for a qualified babysitter or child caretaker, to provide childcare assistance at the insured’s residence.
  • This service is available for a maximum of  2 insured’s children under the age of 15, and up to 8 hours of service per policy.

4.  Pet Care

  • Within 24 hours upon receiving all the necessary proof or documents, we will arrange for up to 2 of your cats and/or dogs at a licensed pet hotel in Hong Kong for a maximum of 5 days.
  • Arrange the transportation of your pet(s) together with you or your designated representative to the licensed pet hotel

5. Home Care

  • Within 24 hours upon receiving all the necessary proof or documents,  we will provide home care services at your residence, including cleaning, cooking and laundry services (up to a maximum of 8 hours of service per policy).

6.  Hospital Discharge Assistance

  • Arrange escort personnel to handle hospital discharge procedure
  • Arrange transportation for the insured from the hospital in Hong Kong to their residence.
  • You shall submit the application to HMG 1 business day before discharge. HMG needs to receive all relevant documents (e.g. Hospital Admission Certificate with diagnosis/Discharge Summary/Letter of Undertaking with the insured’s signature) simultaneously for verification.
  • The service will be available on the subsequent business day.

Step 1: Contact us

Call HMG 24-hour hotline at (852) 3002 0816 or China toll free hotline 400 616 0151 and provide the required information, including your personal information for Identification, policy number, mobile number and preferred network hospital or specialist (if any). HMG will advise you on the turnaround or notification times required for the arrangement(s) of the appropriate service provider(s), location(s), and estimated expenses upon request.

Step 2: Confirm service

Confirm with HMG whether to proceed with the service.

Step 3: Make appointment

Upon your confirmation, HMG will confirm the appointment with the service provider and notifying you including the name of service provider, address, date and time and related fee (if applicable) via e-message.

 

Tips: If any fees and charges are not covered under your policy or by the third-party company shall be borne by you.

Sun Life HK will not be liable for any loss or damage, costs or other expenses whatsoever and howsoever, directly or indirectly, caused by, arising from or in connection with the Value-added Services provided by HMG (no matter what and how such loss or damage is caused). 
  2. If you are holding VHIS and medical plans, you are eligible to select any of the Family Care Benefit if you are hospitalized in Hong Kong at least 10 consecutive days; If you are holding Critical Illness plans, you could enjoy the Family Care Benefit after the claim under the policy is approved and paid.
