Hong Kong, October 2, 2026 – Hong Kong’s 2026 National Day Fireworks Display, under the theme “Eternal Radiance Fireworks in Bloom, Illuminating our Country” concluded on a high note last night. Exclusively sponsored by Sun Life Hong Kong Limited (“Sun Life”) and coordinated by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the spectacular display featured eight specially choreographed sets and a total of 31,888 fireworks, bringing citizens and visitors together to celebrate the 77^th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Innovative Dynamic "Sunflower" Fireworks Debut Over Victoria Harbour

This year's display showcased highly innovative fireworks choreography, featuring original sun and sunflower motifs across multiple scenes. Symbolizing hope, warmth and vitality, these designs illuminated Victoria Harbour while conveying heartfelt wishes for the continued prosperity and development of both the nation and Hong Kong.

A highlight of the display was the second chapter, "You Are the Sunshine of My Life", which featured a dynamic new "Sunflower" fireworks pattern. At its center, a point of light traced a circular path, creating a vivid, fluid and continuous visual effect. Achieving this innovative effect required the design team to precisely control the burn rate and timing of each individual star-like firework. By combining different burn rates, they created the illusion of light moving in orbit. The result was a striking example of how artistry and technology can come together in modern fireworks design.

Prior to the show, fireworks spelling out "Sun Life" illuminated the night sky to celebrate Sun Life's approaching 135^th anniversary in Hong Kong, highlighting the company's longstanding connection with the city and its shared journey of growth over the years.

The fireworks display and dinner welcomed a distinguished gathering of guests. Officiating guests included: Mr. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, and his wife; Mr. Leung Chun-ying, Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Mr. Zhou Ji, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Mr. Cui Jianchun, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR; Mr. Lin Jiandong, Deputy Head of the Office for Safeguarding National Security of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Navy Rear Admiral Tan Zhiwei, Deputy Commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison and Mr. Donald Tsang Yam-kuen, Former Chief Executive of the HKSAR. They were joined by Mr. Manjit Singh, President of Sun Life Asia, Mr. David Broom, Chief Client and Distribution Officer of Sun Life Asia, Mr. Clement Lam, Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Hong Kong Limited, and Dr. Christine Yeung, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Life and Health, Sun Life Hong Kong Limited, to celebrate National Day.

The National Day Fireworks Display once again demonstrated Hong Kong's distinctive appeal as the “Events Capital of Asia”. Sun Life remains committed to supporting mega events that bring the community together and contribute to the city’s development, as it continues to grow alongside Hong Kong towards a brighter future.
