(Hong Kong, 15 September 2026) Sun Life Hong Kong Limited (“Sun Life”) today announced the launch of its patient-centric premium healthcare ecosystem, supported by CUHK Medical Centre, Gleneagles Hong Kong and HKSH Medical Group (HKSH). Through the “eSun Pro” medical concierge service provided by HealthMutual Group's (HMG), Sun Life will provide Clients with end-to-end support, including pre-treatment planning, healthcare resource matching and medical administrative assistance. The service helps Clients navigate treatment options, understand anticipated medical costs and insurance coverage, and make better- informed healthcare decisions before treatment begins.
The initiative places patients at the centre of the healthcare journey, supporting three critical stages: consultation, treatment and recovery. Through “eSun Pro” Medical Concierge Service, participating hospitals will benefit from tailored healthcare resource matching, appointment coordination and cross-institution administrative support. This aims to enhance healthcare information transparency, facilitate timely access to appropriate care and simplify healthcare financing arrangements, helping individuals steer their healthcare journey with greater certainty and peace of mind, while contributing to the long-term sustainability of the healthcare system.
The three participating hospitals are among Hong Kong’s leading private healthcare institutions and have been at the forefront of introducing advanced medical technologies in Asia.
Bringing together global perspectives, academic and research expertise, and cutting-edge medical technologies, the three institutions will support Sun Life in offering Clients a broader range of high-quality healthcare options.
Building a More Transparent, Appropriate and Confident Healthcare Journey
Providing Greater Cost Transparency Before Treatment
Through information and support provided by participating hospitals and healthcare networks, Clients can access, before treatment begins, details of relevant medical services, indicative treatment information, estimated medical costs and budgeting considerations. This helps improve cost transparency and enables individuals to better understand their options, providing greater financial certainty and preparedness.
Connecting Clients to Appropriate Healthcare Resources
Sun Life continues to expand its healthcare support network across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, including partnerships with three leading local healthcare institutions announced today. Through the “eSun Pro” Medical Concierge Service provided by HealthMutual Group's (HMG), Clients can access specialist referrals, second medical opinions and expert appointment coordination, enabling them to navigate the healthcare system more efficiently and receive appropriate care in a timely manner.
Simplifying insurance and Administrative Procedures for Better Financial Planning
Through the eSun Pro Medical Concierge Service, Clients can receive pre-treatment budget assessments and insurance benefit consultations to better understand expected insurance reimbursement levels and potential out-of-pocket expenses. This reduces financial uncertainty, lessens the need for substantial upfront hospital payment and minimizes administrative paperwork, enabling them to focus on treatment and recovery.
Dr. Christine Yeung, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Life and Health at Sun Life Hong Kong, said:
"Healthcare sustainability will be one of Hong Kong's most important societal priorities in the coming decade. When individuals lack financial certainty about their healthcare choices, it can delay treatment decisions, increase anxiety and place additional strain on the wider healthcare system. We are honored to partner with CUHK Medical Centre, Gleneagles Hong Kong and HKSH Medical Group to help transform the healthcare journey from one focused on claims after medical treatment to one centred on informed planning before care begins. We are building a patient-centric premium healthcare ecosystem to advance a more sustainable healthcare future for Hong Kong."
Dr. KL Chung, Chief Executive Officer of the CUHK Medical Centre, said: "As healthcare needs continue to evolve, patients today expect not only excellent clinical outcomes but also greater transparency, clarity and support before treatment begins. CUHK Medical Centre has long championed transparent pricing and patient-centered care, enabling patients to make healthcare decisions with confidence. Through this collaboration with Sun Life Hong Kong, we look forward to combining our clinical expertise with concierge support services provided by HMG to help patients better understand their available options, anticipated costs and treatment pathways, ultimately enhancing the overall patient experience."
Dr. Kenneth Tsang, Regional Chief Executive Officer of IHH Healthcare North Asia and Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong, said: “Delivering clinical excellence and comprehensive care has always been at the heart of what we do, alongside our commitment to contributing to clinical research and medical innovation. As a teaching hospital of The University of Hong Kong, we work closely with its professorial teams to introduce novel and advanced treatment options and health solutions. The collaboration with Sun Life brings together complementary strengths across healthcare and insurance, enabling patients to access the care they need with greater ease. We believe that such partnership is set to create a more connected healthcare journey and advance a healthcare system that is both sustainable and focused on delivering value-based care to patients.”
Dr. Joseph Chan, Chief Medical Officer of HKSH Medical Group and Deputy Medical Superintendent of Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, said: "Continuous enhancement of clinical outcomes and treatment precision is the cornerstone of quality healthcare. Upholding a patient-centered service philosophy, HKSH not only introduces world-class cutting-edge medical technologies but also actively nurtures medical talents and promotes medical research, striving to provide patients with top-quality, precise, and personalized diagnostic and treatment solutions. We firmly believe that excellent clinical outcomes stem not only from advanced technology but also from a steadfast commitment to holistic patient care. HKSH also places great emphasis on fee transparency and governance. In addition to providing clear pre-treatment cost estimates, we also regularly review medical charges and doctor fee estimates through rigorous internal audit and monitoring mechanisms, to ensure fair and consistent charging practices. Through this collaboration, we look forward to advancing a more efficient, transparent and sustainable healthcare ecosystem.”
