Hong Kong, 2 July 2026 – The “2026 Sun Life Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Festival”, organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, co-organised by the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association, and proudly title-sponsored by Sun Life came to a successful conclusion. Marking a new milestone with  an extended 13-day celebration, the event featured an enhanced line-up of international races alongside cultural and entertainment programmes. The festivities attracted large crowds of locals and visitors to the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, where tradition and modern energy came together in a vibrant summer atmosphere.

A major highlight of the event, the “2026 Sun Life Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races” featured 21 exciting races, bringing together over 220 elite teams and 4,500 athletes from 16 countries and regions to compete on Victoria Harbour. The highly anticipated “Sun Life Elite Cup” welcomed 18 spirited teams formed by Sun Life financial advisors, employees, partners and charitable organizations, paddling in unison to demonstrate unwavering determination and exceptional teamwork.

Sun Life continued to deepen its community connections by once again sponsored Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre to form the “Move for Maggie’s Dragon Boat Team,” providing cancer survivors and their family and friends with an opportunity to build confidence, foster connection and embrace the spirit of resilience through dragon boat racing. For the first time, Sun Life also sponsored students from Yan Chai Hospital Lan Chi Pat Memorial Secondary School and Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School, encouraging young paddlers to experience the values of teamwork and perseverance while gaining a deeper appreciation of Dragon Boat Festival traditions, supporting the preservation of cultural heritage for future generations. Dr. the Hon Leong Che-Hung, GBM, GBS, OBE, JP, former Chairman of the Board of Governors , Mr. Adrian Lee, current Chairman of the Board of Governors of Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre, and Mr. Yau Siu Hung, MH, Education Consultant, and other representatives of Yan Chai Hospital Board attended the event to cheer on the athletes.

Themed “Creating Together”, the “Sun Life HK Dragon Boat Co-Creation Zone”, was unveiled at the K11 MUSEA Promenade in Tsim Sha Tsui, reinterpreting traditional customs through innovative approaches. The interactive installation attracted wide participation from the public and became a popular photo spot, adding to the festive atmosphere.   The “2026 Sun Life Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Festival” once again demonstrated Hong Kong’s appeal as the “Events Capital of Asia” and set the stage for an even more exciting return next year!
