(Hong Kong, 22 July 2026) - Sun Life Hong Kong Limited (“Sun Life”) and the Hong Kong Shine Tak Foundation have launched Ride-To-Shine Hong Kong, a citywide smart cycling initiative that aims to unite the community through sport and healthy living. Under the theme of “Participation for All”, the campaign calls on people from all walks of life to collectively cycle 1.2 million kilometers, equivalent to travelling around the Earth 30 times, while promoting healthier living and stronger community connections.

A total of 100 smart bicycles has been installed at Salisbury Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui, where members of the public can take part free of charge throughout the four-week campaign. Every kilometer completed will contribute towards the city's shared target of 1.2 million kilometers. The launch ceremony was held today at Salisbury Garden and officiated by distinguished guests, including Ms. Rosanna Law, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. George Tsoi, JP, Commissioner for Sports, Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, Mr. Clement Lam, Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Hong Kong Limited, Mr. Lam Kwok Hing, MH, JP, Honorary Consul and Chairman for the Hong Kong Shine Tak Foundation and Mr. Eric Lee, JP, District Officer (Yau Tsim Mong). Together, they marked the official commencement of this community initiative.

The event also brought together a distinguished group of guests and “Energy Ambassadors”, including Asian cycling legend Mr. Wong Kam Po, Hong Kong men’s road cyclist Mr. Daniel Yip Hon Man, former Hong Kong cycling team athlete Mr. Domino Chau Dor Ming, and artists Ms. Toby Chan Ting Yan and Ms. Cathy Wong Ka Wi, as well as representatives from across the community and supporting organizations. Nearly 200 guests attended the launch ceremony in support of this citywide sporting event.

In addition to local residents, the campaign welcomes visitors to take part in the challenge. Located along the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, Salisbury Garden is close to famous tourist attractions such as Victoria Harbour and the Avenue of Stars. Visitors can enjoy the city's stunning scenery while contributing to the 1.2 million-kilometer cycling challenge and experiencing Hong Kong's vibrant community spirit firsthand.

To extend participation beyond the main event venue, the organizers have specially deployed a Mobile Cycling Platform equipped with smart bicycles to communities, schools, corporations and public events across all 18 districts of Hong Kong. The platform will also travel to Greater Bay Area cities including Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Zhongshan, enabling wider public participation. Through this cross-city engagement initiative, Ride-To-Shine Hong Kong aims not only to promote healthy living and active lifestyles, but also to foster stronger connections among communities across the Greater Bay Area while encouraging a shared spirit of participation and unity.
