(Hong Kong, 30 October 2026) Sun Life Hong Kong Limited (“Sunlife”) has achieved its best-ever results at the Hong Kong Insurance Awards 2026, being named among the top three in seven award categories.
Spanning retirement and wealth planning, MPF and employee benefits, Client and partner experience, integrated marketing, claims and risk management, and talent development, the wide-ranging recognition demonstrates Sunlife’s broad-based strengths across products, services, operations and talent development. It also reflects the company’s continued focus on putting Clients at the heart of its business and enhancing their experience.
The RetireFree Immediate Annuity Insurance, the Sun Club Partnership Program, as well as the company’s achievements across MPF and employee benefits, integrated marketing, claims and risk management also received industry recognition. These accolades reflect how Sunlife’s approach to innovation extends beyond individual products and services to address Clients’ needs at different stages of life, including protection, wealth management and retirement planning.
Clement Lam, Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Hong Kong Limited, said: “The role of insurance continues to evolve. Clients today look beyond individual protection products. They look for trusted and professional support in retirement planning, wealth management and health protection. The industry recognition we have received across multiple areas this year means more than the number of awards itself. It recognizes the dedication of our teams and reinforces our long-standing commitment to putting Clients’ needs at the heart of everything we do. Looking ahead, we will continue to deliver on this commitment through innovative solutions and professional services, helping them build lifetime financial security and lead healthier lives.”
From product innovation to Client engagement: helping them plan retirement with confidence
As Hong Kong’s demographic landscape evolves, sustainable and sound retirement planning has become an increasingly important consideration for those approaching or entering retirement. Sunlife’s research1 shows that nearly half of respondents (47%) in Hong Kong have no financial plan, or they only plan for up to one year ahead; demonstrating a widespread need to improve retirement preparedness.
To address the need for more proactive retirement financial planning, Sunlife’s RetireFree Immediate Annuity Insurance offers immediate annuity arrangement that help Clients convert accumulated assets into a full guaranteed whole life retirement income stream. The plan was recognized among the top three in the “Most Innovative Product / Service Award (Wealth)” category.
Beyond product innovation, Sunlife has also developed Hong Kong’s only integrated marketing campaign covering four key pillars of retirement planning, translating complex retirement concepts into clear and practical information. The campaign was named among the top three in the “Outstanding Integrated Marketing Strategies Award (Life Insurance)” category, demonstrating the company’s efforts to promote retirement planning across both product solutions and Client communications.
Deepening Client and partner experiences to address diverse protection and wealth management Needs
Sunlife continues to explore innovative service models while strengthening engagement with its partners. The “Sun Club Partnership Program” was named among the top three in the “Outstanding Creative Product/Service Award (Life Insurance)” category. Designed specifically for high-end brokerage partners, the program aims to build a premium service ecosystem centered around cultural experiences, strengthening partner relationships and supporting them in addressing the protection, wealth management and long-term planning needs of high-net-worth Clients.
At the same time, Sunlife was named among the top three in the “Outstanding MPF/Employees’ Benefit Product/Service Award” category for the second consecutive year, further demonstrating the company’s capabilities across individual retirement and wealth planning as well as employee benefits solutions.
Strengthening claims and risk management to demonstrate operational excellence
Building on its strong performance in claims and risk management, Sunlife has once again been named a top three for the “Outstanding Claims Management Award (Life Insurance)” category, while also being shortlisted for the “Outstanding Risk Management Award” category for the first time. The results reflect Sunlife’s continued efforts to strengthen claims services, operational efficiency and enterprise risk management, reinforcing risk management as an important foundation for operational resilience and Client trust. The team also continues to enhance claims processes and service efficiency, delivering a more convenient and seamless experience for Clients.
Alongside strong products and services, professional talent remains equally important to Sunlife. Sunlife financial advisor Tebby Li Xiaojun was named among the Top Three in the “Outstanding Young Professional of the Year – Insurance Intermediary” category. The recognition reflects his professional performance and highlights Sunlife’s ongoing investment in strengthening advisors’ expertise, ethical standards and equipping them to better understand and respond to Clients’ needs throughout different stages of life.
Organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI), the Hong Kong Insurance Awards recognize outstanding achievements and contributions across the industry. Since their launch in 2014, the Awards have become a key industry event celebrating excellence in innovation, customer service, digital development, partnerships and sustainability.
