Sun Life Announces Senior Management Changes

Hong Kong, January 20, 2020 - Sun Life Hong Kong Limited (“Sun Life” or “the Company”) today announced that Steven Fong will rejoin the Company as General Manager of Distribution, with effect from January 23, 2020, and that Martin Fortier, former Chief Risk Officer of Sun Life Malaysia, has been appointed General Manager of Financial Affairs.

Steven takes on the role formerly occupied by Belinda Au who is currently leading a new project within the Sun Life Asia Regional Office, further details will be announced at a later date. A top-notch business leader over her seven years with the Company, Belinda has made a tremendous contribution by enhancing the Company’s distribution channels and brand awareness among Hong Kong clients. Under her leadership, the agency force size doubled, becoming a strong team of trustworthy financial advisors for Sun Life clients. The award-winning Most Respected Advisor Program has fostered a culture of caring and professionalism in our agency force, which has been instrumental in positioning Sun Life as the go-to insurer in Hong Kong and providing an outstanding client experience.

In his new role, Steven leads all distribution channels including agencies and brokerages, as well as training and development of the agency force. Steven was the Chief Agency Officer at Sun Life in 2018, where he drove agency sales growth through quality business for agency distribution.

Martin Fortier brings more than 25 years of experience to his new role. Prior to joining Sun Life Hong Kong Limited on January 1, 2020, Martin was with Sun Life Malaysia, where he held various roles including Chief Risk Officer, Chief Actuary, Appointed Actuary and Chief Financial Management Officer. In his new role, Martin oversees strategy development and financial affairs including finance, actuarial, risk, asset liability management, investment and trustee business.
