Sun Life Resolution Run 2020 Opens for Registration

***New half marathon race course for experienced runners seeking tougher challenge***

***10km, 5km and 1km family runs available for different age group runners***

Hong Kong, Oct 3, 2019 – The Sun Life Resolution Run 2020 will be held at Hong Kong Science Park on 16 February, 2020 (Sunday). To support people affected by diabetes and raise awareness of diabetes prevention in society, Diabetes Hongkong is again the beneficiary of the Run, with HKD20 from registration of every race participant donated to the charitable organisation. The Run is now open for public registration.

“Founded in 1996, Diabetes Hongkong is a charitable organisation with the mission to promote knowledge of diabetes, provide services for people with diabetes and enhance public awareness regarding diabetes prevention,”said Dr. Woo Yu Cho, President of Diabetes Hongkong. “Thanks to the donation raised by last year's Sun Life Resolution Run, we have expanded our services to benefit more people. We are delighted to return as the beneficiary.”  Last year, the Run raised HKD150,000 for Diabetes Hongkong.

“Sun Life is committed to building a healthier community, and diabetes is one of our focuses. According to a survey by Sun Life Asia, diabetes is currently affecting around 1/10 of the adult population in Hong Kong,” said Belinda Au, General Manager of Distribution and Marketing at Sun Life Hong Kong Limited. “Through organising this annual Sun Life Resolution Run, we are encouraging the public to adopt a healthier lifestyle, as well as raising funds for Diabetes Hongkong, enabling them to develop and enhance their services.”

The Sun Life Resolution Run 2020 is title-sponsored by Sun Life Hong Kong Limited and organised by Asia Sport Connection Limited. The Run features a 10km, a 5km, and a 1km family run, all of which have proved popular during past events. In addition, there will be a new half marathon this year, to challenge experienced runners. In order to give the 10km runners a new experience, the race will follow a different route this year, crossing the Shing Mun River and going down Ma On Shan Promenade.

The Run is a family event, featuring not just races, but also a carnival with fun-packed, health-related game booths.  This year at the carnival, a #BeFit Obstacle Challenge will be held in collaboration with The Fred Hollows Foundation. Through finding the path to #BeFit, participants will learn about ways to keep their eyes healthy.

The Fred Hollows Foundation is an international development organisation aiming to end avoidable blindness. It trains local doctors and health workers, builds and upgrades facilities, and provides equipment in order to achieve long-term, sustainable eye health care.
