Hong Kong, Sep 26, 2023 – Sun Life Hong Kong Limited (“Sun Life Hong Kong” or “the Company”) announced today its title sponsorship of “Move for Maggie’s 2023”, an annual fundraising event organized by Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre (“the Centre”). The sponsorship aims to actively promote the fundraising efforts and maximize the event’s exposure. The funds raised through this initiative will play a crucial role in supporting the Centre’s provision of free and professional cancer care services, with a focus on mental health, physical and social well-being of cancer patients and their families.
With Sun Life Hong Kong’s support, the fundraising event aims to raise around HK$1 million in total. This funding will enable the Centre to offer 10,000 sessions of mind-body-spirit workshops at no cost to individuals affected by cancer. These workshops allow participants to engage in activities that promote relaxation, emotional expression and overall well-being, empowering them to live with, live through and live beyond cancer.
From now until December 2023, Sun Life Hong Kong’s staff, financial advisors and Clients and all citizens are cordially invited to participate as fundraisers and contribute to this meaningful cause. Participants can set fundraising goals by taking up challenges such as running, hiking, biking, swimming, or even engaging in activities like yoga, cooking or singing. By doing so, fundraisers aim to “move” their family members and friends by getting themselves “moving” in order to raise funds for the Centre.
Irene Ho, Chief Marketing Officer of Sun Life Hong Kong Limited said, “At Sun Life Hong Kong, we believe in the power of health and optimism to create a brighter future. We actively collaborate with local NGOs, focusing on building a more positive and sustainable community. According to the government’s data, cancer is the leading cause of death in Hong Kong, with 14,805 lives lost in 2020. As the title sponsor of Move for Maggie's 2023, our commitment lies in empowering cancer patients to embrace a brighter outlook as they navigate and transcend their cancer journey. We eagerly seek to be a long-term partner with the Centre, dedicated to building a healthier community and helping cancer patients and their families rediscover hope and live brighter lives.”
Catherine Suen, General Manager of Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre, said, “We are grateful for Sun Life Hong Kong’s invaluable support and generous sponsorship for Move for Maggie’s 2023. The contribution enables us to extend our services to a greater number of cancer patients, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being. We look forward to fostering an enduring partnership with Sun Life Hong Kong, as we join hands to create a supportive environment for cancer patients and their families, not only in the present but also in the years to come.”

All Maggie’s services are free and no appointment or referral is needed. Our Centre is a healing place for visitors to drop-in anytime they like; it is a place where cancer patients can meet with our multidisciplinary team including oncology nurses, registered social workers, dietitians and clinical psychologists to get practical advice and also talk to people who have gone through the same cancer journey. With encouragement to become actively involved in treatment, and with the correct information and support, Maggie’s Centre is here to empower cancer patients to live with, live through and live beyond cancer.
